"As she forms a bond with the Mythical Siren, Marina, Beatrice Ricci uncovers a deep political scandal at the heart of her community that threatens her morals, and the people's safety."
The Judas Trials is a story that explores the workings of small communities, as people avoid moral accountability to feed a machinery of silence as others caught in the noise suffer from the indifference of their peers.
I wanted to build a realistic world within the confines of this script that doesn't just reflect the themes of morality, but also reflected Italy during that period, and also now. Within the story, you also have a country which is in turmoil, reeling from catastrophe to catastrophe, asking itself "How do we rebuild?". The workings of these questions seep into the central narrative, providing a multi-layered story that spans past our protagonist's journey.
A political drama tied to Italian mythology, The Judas Trials interrogates ideas of injustice and the personal price of doing what's right.
